wimbledon
late on monday night we were told that you could go to wimbledon and buy "used" tickets of the people who had already left the games ..... sooo late on tuesday we decided to go and see if we could get some
FORTUNATELY: we asked someone when to get off of the tube because wimbledon is neither at the "wimbledon park" tube stop or the "wimbledon" tube stop... it is actually at the "southfields" tube stop i later decided that this was because they didn't want any dumb people attending the matches ... if you are not smart enough to look up where you were going you are not wanted... so that was the fortunate portion of the trip NOW for the NOT so fortunate portion
UNFORTUNATELY: they stop selling tickets at 7:00 so when we showed up at 6:45 to get some tickets they told us that it was too late... already closed... don't ask me why they say they close at 7:00 because they most certainly DO NOT oh well we eventually had a good time this is what happened from here on out ...
we decided to walk around the gates because it cost 15 pounds to even get into the gates and then it was additional to get a ticket to even be able to watch any games so we walked and we walked and we walked
we got a few good looks at wimbledon.
this one was the best one, and surprisingly the most common
this is a view through the guarded gate...
I would like to note that the gates were well guarded
at one of the locations they seemed to be quite unguarded so
innocently Eden Yells "look there is no one here we can sneak in!!!"
little did she know there was po po and like a million guards
just around the gate... that didn't go so well
Kinda awkward
in the photo posted above the guard was nice enough to step
aside so that he would not interrupt my prime view of the courts.
wow look at those green courts
Us... although it may not look like it
i AM sad that we were not allowed in
i bet everyone who reads this is jealous because look at this great view we had from our
stands (not seats stands)
so because we could not get a picture in front of a court we were looking for a "wimbledon" sign
THERE ARE NONE
so after informing one of the younger, might i add cute guards that their large wimbledon sign was missing
we took a picture of this
the best wimbledon sign we could find
don't worry we put in quite a few requests for a LARGE wimbledon sign... for future use
we were looking our for all those tourists out there
For some odd reason we just continued to aimlessly walk in a random direction and while doing so we
managed to take some fabulous touristy pictures NOTE:
Story: here we are all four of us girls all individually taking photos of the "give way" sign a cop on a motorcycle
pulls up along side of us and lifts up his helmet "lid" and says
"wow i would really like to see what other kinds of photos you girls have on those cameras,
i have seen so pretty crazy tourist photos but i am pretty sure this beats all"
although i was slightly embarrassed it was all worth it because i got the picture
and sort of made friends with the cop in the process
so as we continued walking it was a while before we realized that we were LOST, suddenly all traces of wimbledon
seemed to have vanished and along with it the birds had eaten all of our "bread crumbs" so we had
absolutely no way of finding our way home again
so being the great foreigners that we are
what did we decide to do ? we asked someone how to get to the nearest tube station.
The look on the kids face was priceless as he said
"tube station?"
"yeah any tube station, we just need to get back into london"
"umm how long have you guys been walking? cause the nearest tube
station is about a 1 hour walk that way."
hmmm... so ok somewhere along the road we got off course and
it was 9:00 and we were quite a distance from the tube station.
someone might ask what did we do ... I will tell you
we walked
and walked
and walked
and three hours later
we were HOME!!
Here is the bonus for this outing ... i saw this house
ok but the moral of the story is that we got home safely
THE END
p.s. i am sorry these kinds of weird posts are probably not interesting to any one but me... and they are probably extremely hard to read and understand seeing as they are basically written in stream of consciousness *** thanks mrs. thackeray for teaching me what that means **
