July 3rd ish

JORDAN  this one is for you!!!  actually they are all basically for you so read up !! 


Platform 9 3/4 


The crazy thing about this is that this platform is definitely not between platforms 9 and 10 ... it was not as easy to find as it should be there were no HUGE signs there was absolutely no way for me to know where the stupid platform is 


so finally we figured out where it was !!! 

this is where it was supposed to be 

and 

this is where it actually was 

so as i walked back i saw this wheel and the first thought that popped into my head was this 

     Why would someone chain a wheel to this bike rack 

and then it hit me 

     it probably was not this stupid wheel that the person was trying to keep safe...

it was just a crazy thought and then i just started laughing sooo hard and of course i had to take photos 

here is the sad lonely wheel 

so of course we went to see the cricket grounds and on our way we happened upon a random red phone booth ... what are the odds but yes it is true we found a phone booth and i had to take the traditional " i am a tourist" photo 

This just SHOUTS

"I AM A TOURIST"

And then we had another Wimbledon Moment with the cricket grounds ... don't worry we only walked like 4 miles to try and see a random cricket game and here is the view i got... 

yeah pretty much i am pro at going to places that i am not allowed inside of...  

      and why would these people not move for my picture... i wish i knew that answer for myself ... i asked them kindly to move but they opted not to listen 

here is just some random book that i found at the british library that i thought was kinda funny 

THE BRITISH LIBRARY 

I LOVED the library, what started out as another tedious assignment turned into a LOVEly afternoon.  

there were so many amazing things to see there lots of old documents and jane austen notes on for her books i was in heaven seeing all of the old books and such so for all those planning on visiting London i would HIGHLY recommend the british library there is one section in particular on the first floor that is the best.

GReat ... but we didn't go on the tour so basically we just looked around in the gift shop and took creepy pictures out front

Platform 9 3/4 and the other stuff

This is for you Jordan Jones 

So basically I want to just straight up tell everyone that platform 9 3/4 is not between platforms 9 and 10.  Those stupid wizards think that they can just move everything around so that it confuses us dumb Muggles.  we originally looked between platforms 9 and 10 and this is what we found...

well i was just walking by this bike rack when i happened upon this wheel 

i just walked by the first time but since i had to go back the way i came because 

there was NO platform between 9 and 10 i saw it again and it hit me

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD A PERSON LOCK A STUPID WHEEL

TO A BIKE RACK? i mean who would want to steal a wheel

well apparently i was not thinking brilliantly because it hit me

WHAM

it is not that they would lock up a lone wheel, but it is that they were not

smart enough to lock up the bike, he only locked up the wheel 

upon further examination i laughed for about 20 minutes straight 

and took several pictures of the lone wheel locked to the bike rack 

what a sad sight 

Yep that is where it is SUPPOSED to be 

But finally after wondering about this huge station we found it! 

any guesses where we found it? 

Yep you got it 

in between platforms 10 and 11 don't ask me how that works because 

frankly i haven't got the faintest 

THE BEATLES MUSEUM (rather, the beatles STORE)

Sherlock Holmes Museum 

fun little traditional stops we went inside and enjoyed being in both places, however we didn't really go inside the museums because they cost money and we had heard they weren't all that great so we did not really go in to them we just chilled in the shops 

on the way home we decided to go and see the cricket playing courts and let me tell you ... after about 30 minutes of walking i was pleasantly surprised when the view was almost as good as the view we had at wimbledon... hard to believe i know

I tired to warn them that they were in our picture

i asked them to move, and i even tried to wait for them to leave

but all failed and here they are in my picture.  

and as you can see this is almost as good as the Wimbledon Wall 

that we saw but the let down is that there is actually a 

cricket related picture on this wall opposed to the 

"red brick" look at wimbledon...

Flash back for those of you who do not remember 

We finished off the day with some of the classic "yes we are tourist" photos

Well of course there is two because you can't just take one 

tourist photo

Found this in the British library gift shop 

P.S. this probably shouldn't be a P.S. but it is 

I went to the British library this day and i LOVED it 

this was by far one of my favorite places i have been 

i saw a lot of hand written drafts of authors such as 

jane austen, virginia wolf, and the bronte sisters

i also got to see some really old religious texts such as 

the codex Sinaiticus and the some of the original Gutenberg 

prints of the bible this was a major surprise because i wasn't

very interested in these things before i went but they had great

information there and it was extremely interesting 

I would HIGHLY recommend a visit to this exhibit if you 

are ever in LONDON

Phantom of the Opera and Gay Pride Day

as much as i would love to start out this blog by saying that it was gay pride day and i saw some crazy things, unfortunately it was a pretty average day...


1. woke up went to class 


2. went to the store

Side story: the only evidence i found that it was gay pride day 

was that as i was walking down the street i saw a man dressed up in a big

puffy rococo style dress, high heels, white powder wig, and a lot of make up

i know isn't that an exciting story

Unfortunately i was not quick enough to ask him to get a picture taken 

so sadly i have no photos to validate this event 

3. did a bunch of homework all day 


4. ate dinner and then suddenly i decided that i was going to go to a play


here is the part where i found something A LONDON LOVE 

Here in london we have this little thing called broadway plays

there is also this little thing called discount tickets 

both of these things are great 

there cherry on top is the fact that i have a student card 

which means that i can get an additional discount 

but here is the part that really matters 

the part that really matters i show up 30 minutes before the play starts and i get a ticket!!

Here is what i didn't understand when i bought that SUPER CHEAP ticket 

the part that i didn't understand when the seat says restricted it generally means you can't see the stage... so i knew it was restricted but i didn't know that it meant this restricted

luckily i am a lucky girl...most of the time and the people sitting in the two seats next to me 

didn't feel like showing up so i just took their seat and saw the whole stage!!

so pretty much since i got lost in conveying this dumb story i forgot to really tell what show i even saw... i saw phantom of the opera 

it was fantastic and well worth the money that i did pay i just loved listening to the music and singing along ... in my mind of course

      after the show... 

we didn't really feel like going back home just yet so we decided to go and walk along

the thames river here is the part of the day when i really 

realized that it was gay pride day because on the way toward the river 

we passed several gay clubs AND the buildings were lit up in an array 

of bight rainbow colors i am not going to lie it was pretty cool

the pictures are not that great but here are some of them 

now for the BEST part of the whole day

although this may look disgusting it was absolutely the best waffle i have

EVER had it had dark chocolate raspberries and coconut

I think that i died and went to heaven for the whole 

30 seconds that it took me to eat it!! 

i will be returning here to buy another waffle 

the last adventure of the night the last adventure goes like this... bus hopping trying to catch the right bus in order to get home and although we did not make the "curfew" we made it home alive!  all i have to say about this is that there is for sure a different schedule for night and day buses so make sure that you know the difference... so basically you should probably figure out where your bus is going BEFORE you get on it 

Cambridge and stuff...

Day trip #1 st. augustine's abbey ruins 


This place is just amazing, it was a peaceful place for me, i could just sit and think and breath


I could not have picked a better first day trip because it gave me a chance to breathe off the slight tinge of homesickness i was feeling 


Unfortunately i don't have a bunch of really cool stories to tell about this sight, 


I think it was destroyed during henry VII during dissolution... yeah i think i am supposed to know more but that's all i got so check out the pictures

Eden and me!! Standing in front of what was probably once a amazing stained glass window... but look it is still beautiful just a different beautiful. 


Canterbury Cathedral 


it was pretty good... but our TOUR guide basically hated TOURists so no big deal 


He kept saying to us... "all you care about is getting the pictures you want to the places you see, you don't even care to learn anything about the places you go"


hmmmm interesting because last time i checked i am on a STUDY abroad and from personal experience i have done some learning/ studying 


and although the TOUR guide was not the best the building was wonderful 

WOW IT IS GREAT RIGHT? 

This is the spot where thomas becket was martyred  this is one of the places that many catholics come for pilgrimages to visit the sight of his death  

although this shot is quite blurry you still might 

be able to see the difference between this window 

and other stained glass windows because it is a 

more modern window and it looks like they are all 

disney characters the colors were also brighter

This is a kind of cool shot of the vaulted ceilings they are absolutely crazy cool in this cathedral

well thats all folks... at least of the canterbury cathedral

Next stop of the day was CAMBRIDGE 


the best part of cambridge was that we got to hear the boys choir there in the church it was really a great experience 

we also had the opportunity to go punting down the river and see all of the different "school" 
this is the name of our lovely boat 


jordan...i swear we have some kind of inside joke about big bertha so i thought of you while i was taking this photo
