odd conversations... i think NOT

so as i sat waiting for one of my classes to start i overheard this conversation...typical for BYU you know the kind of kids who are out to solve the "serious" problems of the world...trying to change the world one bathroom at a time.

"you know we could save a lot of energy if they just had one size of drinking fountain"

this comment alone was enough to stop me in my tracks
so i paused...... and listened to the rest of this
weird conversation that went something like this

second friend "no really?"

"yeah i mean No one ever drinks out of the small drinking fountains because why would
you drink out of a small drinking fountain when you could drink you of a big drinking fountain?"

"oh"

"yeah so get rid of the big drinking fountains and just use the small one then no one would have
to choose between the two sizes of drinking fountains and you could save room AND energy"

"right... i think you are on to something here"

"oh and you know what other idea i had, you know the bathrooms at the conference center
(yes the L.D.S. conference center but of course here on campus this needs no verification)
well if you haven't noted, there is always a line in front of the womans restrooms
NO (gasp) really?
so i was thinking about it and the men and womens restrooms are the same size right?

"yeah i suppose so"

"ok well then you know if they just made the womens restroom larger then there wouldn't be such
a big line."

NO WAY a light just went on...

so what i learned today is that if the restrooms were build bigger they would accommodate more people wow i
cannot believe that it only took that boy 22 years of his life to figure that out! this could change public
restrooms for good!

Quote of the Day

" you am not boy crazy you are MAN crazy..."  thank you Dottie!!

this simple quote from my lovely roommate Dottie made my night wonderful.

another quote about college...

"life in the dorms is like an anti-scocial persons worst nightmare...oh no... my life is my worst nightmare"

walking on BYU campus is like walking into a room full of love sick puppies... people are holding hands everywhere... you might think that i am righting about this because i am jealous, however those who know me best would say that it is because it makes me want to vomit... right?  why would i be jealous of all the young lovers? good question

Took my first test today... it went well...i think... i don't know i guess i will have to see...

too late to continue on with this stupid blog that no one but me wants to read so ta ta for now!

SICK

so i say sick, not sick as in cool, sick as in sick.  who would believe that while thousands of miles away from home i was never one ounce homeSICK but now that i am a whole amazing 60 miles away i am super homesick.

i have come to the conclusion that homesickness is not fun.

i shouldn't be homesick
so i tell my self every day

you are a big girl sarah
you can do this
you are just 60 miles away from home
your brothers are just taking your room
N. B. D.
i am in college so i don't care
right?

WRONG

for some reason i care... too much

A Whole New Life

Home messy Home
somehow I am lucky enough to have
clean roommates.... and they got stuck with me ...

Well I wish that I could say that since moving into the dorms I have turned over a new leaf and become clean person, a neat freak, tidy, however this is not so.  as you can see my room is currently in a state of disarray and instead of taking steps to organize it I am writing about it... ask me why? I have no clue.

Tower Bridge

Woot Woot here we are in London good ol' London

Here he is tall and stoic not allowing anything funny, or disturbing
to disrupt his focus.

that is he allowed nothing but the comments of our group to disrupt him

Side story:  we all wanted to see if we could make him smile and after several tires i am proud to say we succeeded.  first let me just say that even being around them is kinda awkward because you know they are alive and human, however they do not react to anything!!  you can be standing 2 meters away from them talking about them and they still show no reaction. so i was not all that excited to be a part of the scheme to break his concentration, but i witnessed it.
lindsey: "his lips are just so kissable"
enough said he cracked up !  and from that moment on we all tried to make all of them laugh and i am glad to announce that everyone we saw we made them laugh .... they all needed some happiness in their boring lives.

and of course the tower bridge

i saw the crown jewels and went through an interesting armer museum and saw all the cool things around the tower of london

later in the night we went to Beethoven's 9th in ST. PAULS cathedral

It was amazing!  i have no idea what to say other than the fact that

Beautiful music + Amazing building = BLISS

Bath Glastonbury and Stourhead

Bath or should i say bOth

after hearing much about bath from the characters of the many austen novels that we have read my mind already had a firm image of what it should look like, however what i thought it should look like and what it did look like were slightly different.

the roman baths were extremely interesting, they are built on natural hot springs and although i probably should have already known this i didn't and i found it extremely interesting.

I am pretty sure that i would not enjoy swimming in these
rather green bathes

Although we did not have the opportunity to enter into Bath Abbey, because
there was a graduation that was going on we got to observe the beautiful
outside of the Abbey and the part i like the best were the Angels climbing up
the ladders to Heaven

The next stop within Bath was to the Assembly hall where characters from Jane Austen's novels would have gone to dance the night away.

Spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning

Beautiful Chandeliers

Large dancing rooms

and a group full of silly girls

NOT much has changed since the days of Jane Austen

We quite enjoyed dancing all afternoon

Next stop is Stourhead

This is one of the most beautiful places that i have seen every way you looked there was something beautiful to see.  i could have spent hours just walking around the lake and enjoying the scenery

many of you probably recognize this from the latest version of
Pride and prejudice well here it is and it sure is beautiful

so many girls all that was missing was the Mr. Darcies!!

further around the lake there is another little building that is just as picturesque as this one

look at those ugly ducklings
they sure are cute... even if they are Ugly

everything was brilliant
i can't wait to travel back here and spend
more time exploring the grounds
of Stourhead

Glastonbury

Glastonbury Abbey- it is said that this is the place where joseph of arimathea brought jesus when he was a boy and where his rod planted a thorn tree whose decedents still are alive today in the Abbey gardens.  this is also where the legendary king arthur and his wife are said to be buried

one word DISSOLUTION
the abbey was destroyed during kind henry viii's reign when ordered a dissolution of all the catholic chapels, monasteries, abbeys, etc.

the tree coming in from the left side of the photo is said
to be a thorn tree that is a descendant of the
tree that joseph planted thousands of years ago
take it or leave it... believe it of not ... i don't know

i really enjoyed roaming around these ruins but there were a few things that disagreed with me...

poor little pigs, what did they do to deserve a sad end like this?

i know this is a super cute picture of me... but it is showing king arthur's "resting place"

Yeah i am pretty sure it is creepy that i did this but oh well what's done is done

at the end of our visit here we liked the abbey so much that we all decided to change our life styles and become...

ok so not really but they just had these sweet costumes for little kids to try on ... and we just couldn't resist

On to the TOR

the hike to the top

the tor

some of the view

more of the view

even more of the view

the rest of the view

all around the top of the hill there are beautiful views that you just can't ever get enough of.  so many different ways to look you can see almost clear out to the sea

I LOVED hiking to the top of the hill and looking over the valley it was just amazingly brilliant

This day was spectacular

What a great way to end day trip #2

July 3rd ish

JORDAN  this one is for you!!!  actually they are all basically for you so read up !!

Platform 9 3/4

The crazy thing about this is that this platform is definitely not between platforms 9 and 10 ... it was not as easy to find as it should be there were no HUGE signs there was absolutely no way for me to know where the stupid platform is

so finally we figured out where it was !!!

this is where it was supposed to be
and
this is where it actually was

so as i walked back i saw this wheel and the first thought that popped into my head was this
Why would someone chain a wheel to this bike rack
and then it hit me
it probably was not this stupid wheel that the person was trying to keep safe...
it was just a crazy thought and then i just started laughing sooo hard and of course i had to take photos

here is the sad lonely wheel

so of course we went to see the cricket grounds and on our way we happened upon a random red phone booth ... what are the odds but yes it is true we found a phone booth and i had to take the traditional " i am a tourist" photo

This just SHOUTS
"I AM A TOURIST"

And then we had another Wimbledon Moment with the cricket grounds ... don't worry we only walked like 4 miles to try and see a random cricket game and here is the view i got...

yeah pretty much i am pro at going to places that i am not allowed inside of...
and why would these people not move for my picture... i wish i knew that answer for myself ... i asked them kindly to move but they opted not to listen

here is just some random book that i found at the british library that i thought was kinda funny

THE BRITISH LIBRARY

I LOVED the library, what started out as another tedious assignment turned into a LOVEly afternoon.
there were so many amazing things to see there lots of old documents and jane austen notes on for her books i was in heaven seeing all of the old books and such so for all those planning on visiting London i would HIGHLY recommend the british library there is one section in particular on the first floor that is the best.

LAST stops of the day

Sherlock Holmes museum

GReat ... but we didn't go on the tour so basically we just looked around in the gift shop and took creepy pictures out front

last but not least the BEATLE'S STORE

Creepy picture of the DAY # 2

Platform 9 3/4 and the other stuff

This is for you Jordan Jones

So basically I want to just straight up tell everyone that platform 9 3/4 is not between platforms 9 and 10.  Those stupid wizards think that they can just move everything around so that it confuses us dumb Muggles.  we originally looked between platforms 9 and 10 and this is what we found...

well i was just walking by this bike rack when i happened upon this wheel
i just walked by the first time but since i had to go back the way i came because
there was NO platform between 9 and 10 i saw it again and it hit me
WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD A PERSON LOCK A STUPID WHEEL
TO A BIKE RACK? i mean who would want to steal a wheel
well apparently i was not thinking brilliantly because it hit me
WHAM
it is not that they would lock up a lone wheel, but it is that they were not
smart enough to lock up the bike, he only locked up the wheel
upon further examination i laughed for about 20 minutes straight
and took several pictures of the lone wheel locked to the bike rack
what a sad sight

Yep that is where it is SUPPOSED to be

But finally after wondering about this huge station we found it!

any guesses where we found it?

Yep you got it

in between platforms 10 and 11 don't ask me how that works because
frankly i haven't got the faintest

THE BEATLES MUSEUM (rather, the beatles STORE)

Sherlock Holmes Museum

fun little traditional stops we went inside and enjoyed being in both places, however we didn't really go inside the museums because they cost money and we had heard they weren't all that great so we did not really go in to them we just chilled in the shops

on the way home we decided to go and see the cricket playing courts and let me tell you ... after about 30 minutes of walking i was pleasantly surprised when the view was almost as good as the view we had at wimbledon... hard to believe i know

I tired to warn them that they were in our picture
i asked them to move, and i even tried to wait for them to leave
but all failed and here they are in my picture.

and as you can see this is almost as good as the Wimbledon Wall
that we saw but the let down is that there is actually a
cricket related picture on this wall opposed to the
"red brick" look at wimbledon...

 Behold Wimbledon

Flash back for those of you who do not remember

We finished off the day with some of the classic "yes we are tourist" photos

Well of course there is two because you can't just take one
tourist photo

Here is a little laugh
Found this in the British library gift shop

P.S. this probably shouldn't be a P.S. but it is
I went to the British library this day and i LOVED it
this was by far one of my favorite places i have been
i saw a lot of hand written drafts of authors such as
jane austen, virginia wolf, and the bronte sisters
i also got to see some really old religious texts such as
the codex Sinaiticus and the some of the original Gutenberg
prints of the bible this was a major surprise because i wasn't
very interested in these things before i went but they had great
information there and it was extremely interesting
I would HIGHLY recommend a visit to this exhibit if you
are ever in LONDON

this post was not edited sorry if there are any mistakes it is not my fault
ok well it is but still not my fault
